Okay, this is NOT new, but it’s worth mentioning. The proteus vx softsynth from Emu is free.
Windows VST only. More info and download here. E-MU Proteus VX A free synth sound module from the legendary hardware sampler makers. It’s a slimmed-down version of their Emulator X3, and can load any sounds from the Emulator X library. Windows VST only. More info and download here. The Proteus VX is a professional desktop sound module based on the Proteus sound modules and Emulator samplers. It has got features like Phase Locked Stereo signal path, Up to 192 kHz sample rate, 54 different filter types including multi-pole resonant filters, phasers, flangers, vocal filters and multi-parameter morphing filters, etc. Proteus VX is now available as a freeware.
It used to come only with their hardware tools, but now you can download it free.
Yo, this is a freaking rompler, period, and Emu was pretty hardcore with their software.
I had quite a few emu products and you’ll be hard pressed to find a producer that doesn’t have at least on of their modules in the studio.
But funk it! Get this joint right here for free.
It comes with the v2 composer bank, which is their general purpose bank from the proteus 2000 and has over 1000 presets.
Look, even if you’re on a budget, you can still have some hot sounds man!
It uses the architecture from their EMU Proteus X2 Software Sound Module and can load any x2 sound libraries that don’t use disc streaming.
I have it, got to love it!
Don’t expect me to list every free vst out there, because a lot are pure TRASH.
But, just like the KORE Player, this one is something you MUST have.
It’s definitely a quality instrument, I love free stuff like this yo!
get the proteus vx download and quit playin lol.
peace
This page currently contains 23 Proteus/1 Sysex patch banks. They were collected from various sources. For my uses, I've grouped some of them into logical divisions to make it easier to find things.
If you're currently running the factory defaults in patch locations 64 through 127, you don't need to save them since the factory defaults are included here. Otherwise, save your user presets before you load any of these banks. These banks WILL OVERWRITE your current user patch locations 64 through 127!
All banks were saved from the Proteus/1 user area (patches 64 thru 127) using the SEND MIDI DATA - User Presets item in the Proteus/1 master menu. The data was received by Cakewalk and then saved to the indicated Sysex file names. The Proteus/1 ID must be set to unit 00 to load the patch banks back into your Proteus/1. Use your sequencer software or other sysex transmission program to send the patch banks to your unit.
If you have trouble loading the patch bank .SYX files into your computer sequencer program, you may need to use a standalone Sysex Utility program. Check the ones listed on my FAQ page.
Note: All sysex files listed on this page are contained in PR1_ALL.ZIP (108k). Please download this file and extract the desired patch banks. You can obtain the ZIP file extraction utility from this site.
